More about me
Having fallen into the great pot of stories when he was little thanks to a projectionist and film buff grandfather, Nicolas Brénéol naturally gravitated towards cinema and documentary. During his university studies devoted to the study of arts and cinema in particular, Nicolas wrote his thesis on Federico Fellini and Italian neorealism. He became passionate about this post-war cinematic movement and its evocative power of reality associated with its strength in blending fiction and documentary.
With his diplomas in hand, and training as a screenwriter in addition, and self-taught in all genres, he began to learn the ropes in television reporting and documentaries. There he rediscovered the very essence of his intellectual reflection: the human.
His latest productions illustrate his eclecticism and his pronounced taste for History, science and technology: Titanic, the genesis of a giant (RMC Découverte), Morts pour la cause (TV5Monde), Submarine nuclear, Déconstruction XXL (RMC Découverte). He was notably able to revisit the myth of Ramses II in his latest series (Ramses II, The secrets of a pharaoh – RMC Découverte/Arte Distribution), the sectarian drift (Temple solaire, l’enquête impossible – TMC/RTBF) or even the individual trajectories of women who made Great History (Duels d’histoire – Arte).
Passionate about the art of storytelling, he likes to mix genres to create exciting human stories.
